Deep Cleaning

• You may experience some cold and heat sensitivity (especially after deep cleaning)
• If you have received anesthesia, do not eat anything until the numbness has worn off
• Continue your regualr brushing and flossing. Some bleeding for a day or two after cleaning is normal, but if you experience any excessive bleeding call our office
• Eating: Your next meal should be soft. Avoid any hard "chippy" foods like Fritos, potato chips, popcorn, etc. for the next 3-4 days.
• Swelling: Swelling or jaw stiffness occur very rarely, however if it does, place warm moist towels to the face in the area of stiffness.
• Call our office if you are in pain or have any questions

The home care program we recommend you to follow is this:

Morning and Night Time
Use for one month following SRP treatment
Chlorhexidine Oral Rinse 0.12%

Step 1: Pour the Chlorhexidine in a small cup
Step 2: Dip the Rotadent brush in the cup
Step 3: Repeat every 2-3 teeth
(remember do not apply directly on the gums)

Caution: Chlorhexidine may:

• Stain teeth yellow to brown
• Alter taste (temporary)
• Increase the deposition of calculus (other than that, it is excellent)

Night Time Only
Everyday use, this is vitamin for your teeth
Stannous Fluoride 0.63%

Step 1: Pour Fluoride in cup provided to the 1/8 line
Step 2: Fill the rest of the cup with water
Step 3: Swish half cup for 1 minute
Step 4: Repeat swish
no eating, no rinsing, no drinking for 30 minutes

Warning: Smoking is extremely harmful to the supporting structures of your teeth.

Remember: Increased plaque levels in your mouth give an increased risk of periodontal breakdown. Following the above instructions will help reduce that risk and will determine the success of your treatment.
